Musical Theatre Classes:

Preschool

For our youngest students, ages 3-4, we use recreational games and activities to help each child learn basic performance techniques. Students meet once a week for 60-minutes. The students work towards an end-of-session recital (January and June) which includes singing, dancing and short scenes, allowing them to “get their feet wet” and experience the joy of performing on stage in an informal, nurturing setting. Friends and family are invited. Students must be toilet trained.

Grades 1 - 4

For students in grades 1-4, the emphasis of our classes is on the development of performance techniques and group interaction. The students learn to coordinate their singing, acting and dancing to create an end-of-year musical performance in June for the enjoyment of family and friends. At the halfway point in January, a visiting day “recital” will be held showcasing the songs and dances being prepared for the June performance. The classes are generally 2-hours in duration and encompass a rotation of 40-minutes each of voice, dance and acting!

Advanced Musical Theatre Grades 6-8

Our Advanced Musical Theatre class is offered for students in Grades 6-8. This class meets once a week for 2-hours. This class will continue to nurture the recreational philosophy of our program but will operate at a faster pace with more complex material, following the same format of our regular Grade 5-8 classes. During the first semester, each student will create a unique "audition book" with material that can be used for future auditions. Students who choose to join this class must be willing to put in the extra time for the curriculum that will be followed. It is required that you take at least one year of our general Gr 5-8 theatre class before joining this class.

Kindergarten

Children in Kindergarten meet once a week for

90-minutes. Each semester (January and June) they prepare a mini production incorporating singing, acting and dancing. We slowly introduce them to what it's like to perform in a musical theatre production with costumes and props, while also using theatrical games to make learning fun. The students enjoy showcasing their accomplishments for their friends and family.

Grades 5-8

Our Middle School classes meet once a week for 2-hours. Our Fall semester focuses on teaching the  fundamentals of musical theatre culminating in an end of semester showcase. The Spring semester is devoted to the preparation of a full musical production. In this class, students focus on technique and work in a more challenging environment, yet still enjoy the recreational atmosphere of the program.

High School Repertory
Grades 9-12

Our High School Repertory class meets once a week for 2-hours. Advanced training will be taught in voice, dance and acting, but students will also learn the technical aspects of theatre including directing and design. Guided by our skilled teachers, students will have influence over the final show through the process of Devised Theatre while working alongside their peers to create a unique production.
