Musical Theatre Classes:
For our youngest students, ages 3-4, we use recreational games and activities to help each child learn basic performance techniques. Students meet once a week for 60-minutes. The students work towards a song and dance end-of-session recital (January and June), allowing them to “get their feet wet” and experience the joy of performing on stage in an informal, nurturing setting. Friends and family are invited.
Children in Kindergarten meet once a week for
90-minutes. Each semester (January and June) they prepare a mini production incorporating singing, acting and dancing. We slowly introduce them to what it's like to perform in a musical theatre production with costumes and props, while also using theatrical games to make learning fun. The students enjoy showcasing their accomplishments for their friends and family.
Grades 1 - 4
For students in grades 1-4, the emphasis of our classes is on the development of performance techniques and group interaction. The students learn to coordinate their singing, acting and dancing to create an end-of-year musical performance in June for the enjoyment of family and friends. At the halfway point in January, a visiting day “recital” will be held showcasing the songs and dances being prepared for the June performance. The classes are generally
2-hours in duration and encompass a rotation of
40-minutes each of voice, dance and acting!
Our Middle School classes meet once a week for
2-hours. Our Fall semester focuses on teaching the fundamentals of musical theatre culminating in an end of semester showcase. The Spring semester is devoted to the preparation of a full musical production. In this class, students focus more on technique and work in a more challenging environment, yet still enjoy the no-pressure, recreational atmosphere of the program.
Our High School class meets once a week for 90-minutes. Advanced technical training and theatrical skills will be taught while at the same time, keeping with our recreational philosophy. In addition to training in voice, dance and acting, students will learn the technical aspects of theatre including casting, directing and design. This class focuses on more individualized attention, helping students enhance and execute skills that will help them in the future, not only with their theatrical activities but also in building their self-confidence and a comfort level in public speaking and presentation. Each semester will conclude with a showcase.
Our adult class includes a 90-minute combination of singing, acting and dancing in a social, non-competitive environment, culminating in a showcase performance for family and friends. This class runs on demand. Please contact Take A Bow if you are interested.
Our 'Acting Out' class will work on various acting techniques including improvisation, character
development, Shakespeare, commercials, voice-overs and playwriting. A showcase will take place at the end of each semester.
Musical Theatre Dance
Musical theatre dance classes offered in jazz and tap. Students will grow more confident in their physicality and stage presence while improving dance and audition techniques. Parents will be invited to the final class for a showcase. Students must provide their own shoes.
Week-long workshops focusing on acting, dance and voice. Children will have fun enhancing their musical theatre techniques through a variety of exercises and games. Each sessions runs for one week from
